AUTISTIC NICK AND THE BENEFITS OF HAVING WORKABLE STRATEGIES IN PLACE
We all have strategies that we use in our everyday life, we’ve either stumbled across them on social media and then seen that smug person proudly boasting how much their lives have improved, so much so that they’re launching a podcast, a blog and will be on an early morning breakfast show smugly telling others just how to get these strategies.
Off course they’ll be a cost, a seminar, a website to go and visit then clicking on a link, to then go to the checkout to pay for said strategies.
It’s 2023 and as it’s a new year so I want to go back and grab those strategies that were working for me and reintroduce myself to them and reacquaint myself with them and gain back just how beneficial they once were.
I feel in a majority of cases that these strategies are often rejected by the non-disabled community, because as they seen it “why do I need these?”
Well, I’ll tell you why.
Strategies are for me important because they provide a structure and a routine that I crave.
By seeing written instructions, steps, information written down in a clear concise way I am able to learn as I am a visual learner.
I am now on a quest (this is sounding a bit like it’s an episode from Game of Thrones isn’t it?) to reclaim what I have abandoned or what was taken away from me or however you look at it (perspective is important here or so I’ve been told?!)
Going forward I will create a template (or try to find dependant on what I saved it under on my computer) my log book and for each story I will create and maintain that until the process has ended and I need to start a new one.
I will retrieve my whiteboard and clean it (I noticed some artist had drawn something on it the last time I cast my eye over it) and then use that to make notes on etc.
Tuesday the 31st of January 2023 things are going to change for me and me alone.
If I need to do these things in order to make my life easier as an Autistic person then I’m going to do it.
